A good exterior wash is the first step in any detailing project. You can wash your car in a variety of ways, but experts recommend using the two bucket method and a gritguard, or using touchless washing with a high pressure washer and foam cannon.
Use a foam gun with water and car wash soap attached to the spray nozzle of a garden hose. You should always avoid automatic car washes, never use dish soap and use microfiber cloth whenever possible.
The three most important practical factors to consider when choosing a car shampoo are:
It is important to consider the type of paint protection products used on your car. Car soaps and shampoos, for example, are designed to remove dirt and wash paintwork and other surfaces. There are some that are better suited for paint protection.
Here are some examples.
Paint Sealants and Car Wax: If you are using a paint sealant or car wax, then you should use a car shampoo with carnauba in it. The wax's purpose is not to protect the car, but rather to produce more lubrication that helps reduce scratches while cleaning off grime. This car cleaner contains a lower percentage of wax than Turtle Wax, or other liquid wax products. Just a tiny bit for extra lubrication.
Ceramic Coatings - Whether your car is coated with a professional Ceramic Pro 9H or a $20 spray bottle, the right shampoo can make a big difference in enhancing their hydrophobic properties. When washing a car with a ceramic coating, the goal is to remove any dirt, debris or other "stuff" that may be on its surface.
The car shampoo must be mild, as the nano coating will ensure that dirt particles do not adhere to the paint of the car. Use a car shampoo that is pH neutral, waxe-free and produces a lot of suds. These formulas can be used in foam cannons and hand wash buckets. High-suds will improve lubrication, and help break down dirt.
Americana Global Aftercare is a product that we recommend for our detailers. It's also good for maintenance car washes.

Vinyl Wraps and paint protection film: Finding the best car detailing products in the shampoo sector can be a challenge. Vinyl wraps or paint protection film (Metallic Vinyl Wraps) is a polymer based material that adheres to the paint surface.
Water can seep into vinyl wraps or there may be a problem where the adhesive is bonded to the paint. It is difficult to remove vinyl because of this. Consider using a waterless washing solution. Spray the solution, allow it to agitate, and then wipe with a clean, fresh microfiber towel.
You can solve this problem by applying a ceramic coating on top of vinyl. This will prevent water from penetrating vinyl.
Hand-washing your wrap (Metallic Vinyl Wraps) or clear bra with a lot of suds is the best way to clean it. Use shampoos that are pH neutral and have reduced or no wax formulas. Use the lowest setting on the foam cannon and high-pressure wash to avoid damaging wraps or Metallic Vinyl Wraps materials.
How to Choose the Right Wash Mitts or Media
We detailers use fancy words to describe the supplies we use. Media, the materials that we use to clean or wash a car is one of them. The search for the perfect car shampoo is complicated. But choosing the right wash mitt or media to clean your vehicle isn't.
Any wash media's main job is to remove dirt without scratching surfaces. How is this achieved? All depends on the material. The best wash mitts are made of microfiber.
The microfiber blend is made up of polyester (which has a higher percentage) and polyamide, which has a lower percentage. They are woven into tiny loops when assembled. This helps them to remove debris without damaging the surface.
Wash mitts and car cleaning products should be made with wash medias that can absorb water, soap and suds and glide over the paintwork. If I could recommend two types of wash media, it would be the mitt. It is a simple glove that you slip over your hand to make it easier to use.(Matte Vinyl Wraps)
Two types of microfiber washing mitts are available:
The "Noodle" is a new type of wash mitt that works well on vehicles with ceramic coatings, paint protection films and vinyl. The main purpose of the mitt is to glide across the surface, rather than scrub hard at the paint. This type of action can cause the paint to be scratched or marred.
The "Woolly", the second type, is a woolly wash mitt. It's also a microfiber mix - typically 70/30 or even 80/20 - and will absorb more suds. This is an all-purpose wash glove that can be used on a variety of vehicles.
We also offer a 'pink' towel, which is an excellent multi-purpose microfiber towel. We will only promote this product in the article. Shame on us!
